Loophole 2.0
A new agentic engine, 20+ AI providers, and better approval controls. This is the biggest update yet.
Loophole 2.0 is here. The agentic engine now handles complex multi-step tasks with better context awareness. We've added support for 20+ providers — from OpenAI and Anthropic to local models like Ollama and vLLM. The UI is cleaner, approval controls are per-category, and everything is still free and open-source. Built for people who actually write code.

Context Engine
How Loophole understands your whole codebase, not just the file you're editing.
The Context Engine is what makes Loophole different. It reads your project structure, indexes your code, and builds a map of relationships between files. When you ask the AI to do something, it knows what else is in your project — not just the current file. This means better suggestions, smarter refactors, and an AI that actually understands what you're building.

AI Extension Support
Use any extension you want. Loophole supports VS Code extensions and MCP servers.
We believe in choice. Loophole runs all VS Code extensions — so you can keep using your favorite themes, linters, and tools. On top of that, we support MCP servers, which let you add custom AI tools. Install what you need, from wherever you want. No lock-in, no walled garden.

Building the Future
What we're building and why. Loophole is an AI-native IDE for people who write code.
We're building Loophole because we believe AI should be a tool, not a replacement. It should understand your code, help you write better code, and stay out of your way when you don't need it. We're building an editor that feels like a classic IDE but has AI woven in at every level — not as a chatbot, but as a pair programmer that actually gets what you're doing.
